When his father started around 1965, he mixed female Platinum from Yamazaki Koi Farm and male Gin Matsuba from Hoshiyone Koi Farm to make the parental Platinum. I think the success of his Platinum derives from mixing blood of Gin Matsuba from Hoshiyone. Platinum is a very sensitive variety and more difficult variety to breed than the others. It is quite amazing that the culling is as strict as the other varieties even in Platinum.
