Honoring a Legacy of Inspiration – Celebrating Brian’s Koi Journey
As we celebrate Kodama’s 25th Anniversary, we are deeply honored to recognize koi keepers like Brian, whose journey is rooted in love, memory, and legacy. Inspired by his grandfather’s koi pond after World War II, Brian built his own 2,000-gallon pond in tribute—a living memory surrounded by beauty and meaning. From Manda Fu treats to visiting our Long Island store, your story reflects the lasting bond between generations, koi, and Kodama.
Customer Story By: Brian C.
“When I was in high school I visited my grandparents home and my grandfather was so excited to show me the new addition to his backyard. He hurried me to the backyard where he introduced me to his beautiful small koi pond.
He was a soldier during the occupation of Japan after WW2 and that is where he was introduced to his first Koi pond. It was an inspiration to me and 15 years later I began caring for my own beautiful koi pond. My indestructible grandfather was diagnosed with cancer ten years ago and passed from a tough battle with the disease. I moved into my new home and I constructed my 2000 gallon pond in his memory.
I was able to acquire some of his plantings from around his pond to pay homage to him and my inspiration. Now 10 years later my pond is thriving! I have trained my fish to approach me for treats of Manda Fu that I first purchased 15 Years ago from Kodama Koi Farm. To my great surprise, and pleasure, Kodama Koi opened a store 25 minutes from my home in Long Island.
I have since gone there for all my pond needs, the people there are wonderful and the koi are so beautiful. I spend far too much long there each time I go… this summer we are visiting Hawaii and I look forward to the prospect of touring Kodama Koi Farm during our visit.”
