Thank You, Edith B.—A True Koi Enthusiast Behind the Beauty
As we celebrate Kodama’s 25th Anniversary , we want to express our deepest gratitude to you, Edith. Your journey—from spray-painting the outline of your first pond to building a beautifully engineered oasis—is a true testament to your passion, dedication, and love for koi.
Even through life’s toughest moments, your heart never truly left the pond. Your return to koi keeping inspires us and reminds us why we do what we do. We are honored to be part of your koi story and grateful for the trust and support you’ve shown us throughout the years.
Thank you for being a cherished part of the Kodama Koi Family.
Customer Story By: Edith B.
“My late husband saw a picture in a magazine that had a pond and we went into the backyard and used a can of spray paint and outlined the location and shape of our pond. We struggled with a green liner pond for a few years.
Then we joined a koi club and got educated. In 1993 we renovated the pond. It is now sloping from 5’ depth to 7-1/2’ in the center. The waterfall is fed water by a skimmer and the pond water is filtered by 2 sets of filters. The filters are 2-stage up flow biological filters. My husband was an engineer and modified the filters so that it is very easy to clean (10 min per vat).
My mom got sick a few years ago and I had to leave my house and pond unattended, so I sold and rehomed my 26 year old koi collection. It was a very difficult decision. Last year I started collecting again. My favorite koi are Ochiba Shigure, Showa and Goshiki.
Unfortunately the cost of older koi prohibits me to purchase larger fish and I ended up with several Soragoi looking koi, bc they lost their copper colored Ochiba pattern. But I love and enjoy all my koi.“
