Your story is a beautiful reminder of what koi ponds truly represent—family, friendship, and shared effort. From digging by hand with your children and neighbors to creating a space of peace, learning, and connection, your journey reflects the heart of the koi-keeping experience. We’re honored to have provided your first koi and to witness how your pond has become a place of wonder for so many young minds. Thank you for letting Kodama be part of something so meaningful.
We celebrate your story as we approach 25 years of Kodama Koi Farm.
Customer Story By: Eric Cobb
“Hello.
My son and daughter, myself and friends, and some kids from their school all volunteered to help dig our koi pond. We spent many months digging and shaping it as before it was a dead garden space to becoming a sitting raised koi pond. We also ourselves built and added a glass bar overlooking where we can dine and see the koi through the bar.
Several truckloads of hauling away dirt, shaping, getting our materials together, later we found you and bought our first koi. We have multiple filters, take very good care of the water, and make sure they are healthy. Our pond is still a work in progress, with plants etc, decoration and finishing touches. It’s a developing project and still has more to do for completion.
Now many kids from the school and neighborhood who helped us or have fascination come to see them. After all we couldn’t have done this without a full team effort! Many teens involved but several volunteered to take a break from video games, wanted to try using shovels and other tools. It was an educational process along the way.
As I have taught some and classes and other forms of cultural appreciation, it’s think it’s better that the kids learn too the value of the work it takes to make this happen. Now many more eyes are on the fish than just us. It’s been rewarding for all!
Thank you again for your time, and the kids will be happy to get more koi from you.
