For 18 years, Charlie has grown from a few inches to a majestic three-foot koi, but more than that, he’s become the heartbeat of your pond and a daily source of joy and peace for Jeff. Their bond is something truly special—and we’re touched that Kodama Koi could be part of this ongoing journey.

“I tell my husband Jeff all the time, we as parents are not allowed to have a favorite! To our three children & grandchildren, what I have to say is going to break my heart. While all of you are beautiful, wildly intelligent; oh so very loved, your Dad/Pop does indeed have one! Charlie, his beautiful, highly intelligent, & very much loved; favored 18-year-old Koi child.
Jeff & Charlie have a bond that is stronger than most ever witnessed. Whether it be a friendship between humans or humans & pets that are valued as family, their game is strong. Charlie is strong, Charlie is smart; Charlie is definitely pampered. While he shares his home with 10 beautifully cared for koi, Charlie was Jeff’s 1st love. From the moment he entered our then, 2,500-gallon pond in 2007 as a mere few inches to 18 years later; now in a newly constructed 9,000-gallon pond, at a whooping 3 feet, Charlie has been the heart of his pond. Jeff’s relationship to all of his fish is so meaningful to his day. He cherishes his evening routine spent in relaxation, watching in wonderment the beauty of his pond, of his fish, of course, Charlie!
To me, Jeff is my not only my husband; best friend, but he is also a wonderfully kind person; even better father. He is respectful to all – sometimes to a fault. Working in a highly stressed career position, overseeing a team of equally stressed but loyal; fabulous persons, as well as spear heading a local non-profit for unhoused community members, I would like to say his favored part of his day is coming home to share a kiss; moments of relaxation with me. Nope, Charlie has this favored position too. Jeff loves nothing more than time unwinding with Charlie; friends. This is why I find it so fitting that he should be chosen to receive the opportunity to add a beautiful Koi friend to his evening routine. His heart will never be too full to love, pamper; cherish another member of his backyard oasis.
